Samuel Videau Vitman is a visual artist and writer from Charleston, SC.

The arts have always played a major role in my life, whether it was through painting, writing, music, and even culinary.

About 8 years ago, when trying to find a new art form to express my creativity through, I began to paint, primarily acrylic on canvas, with the occasional oil & gouache paintings. Starting with just paper, a few brushes, and a couple of paint bottles, I began to create.

Through experimentation with different styles and techniques of painting, I began to find my own style; storytelling through patterns. With influences from cultures around the world and my own, primarily being from France (Huguenot), Bermuda, Italy, and Germany, I began to use vibrant colors, patterns, and technique to paint the pictures on canvas you see today.

After a few years of painting, I decided to show my art to the world through the media. I’ve been writing my whole life, so I also decided to present those works. When viewing my artwork, I hope it helps you creatively and even mentally as we go through this journey called life. I appreciate you!
